My Dream Companion is a newer AI companion platform that keeps things simple and affordable. You chat with virtual characters who answer in a lifelike way and hold a roleplay well, and you can hear them too, thanks to voice messages that add a lot to the sense of talking with someone. The ready-made roster is small, at around two dozen characters, so the creator matters. It combines quick menu choices with a free-text prompt, letting you sketch a companion in seconds or describe one in detail. Images can be generated inside a conversation or on their own. You can try it without even registering, which is unusual. The subscription is among the cheapest in the category, though extra image generation and custom characters use tokens.
